We’re celebrating our 10th Birthday!
Monnow Eyecare want to say a big ‘Thank you’ to the local community and patients for supporting us through our first 10 years in Monmouth. We continue to offer more than just ‘sight tests’. We’ve grown by our commitment to providing patients with the best possible standard of eye care but in a relaxed, professional environment.
We’ve welcomed new colleagues over the years. We’ve has grown from 2 receptionists and 3 opticians into the bigger team of 4 receptionists and 8 opticians and dispensing opticians. Our facilities have expanded so we can offer the latest in technological advances. The practice now has a second testing room housing a stereo camera installed in June 2017 and our OCT scanner was replaced with the latest model in November 2016.
Our practice refurbishment last year meant we now have everything on the ground floor with easy access for people with disabilities and a comfortable reception area with fresh tea and coffee on hand.
The larger space means we can offer you and better choice of glasses and sunglasses as well as a wide choice of contact lenses. The new practice is busier, now welcoming around 50 new customers every month.
“With more advanced medical tests available it’s really important to be able to explain these in plain English” says Helen Tilley, “ whether patients need advice to look after their eyesight or simply want to look their best by choosing frames that suit their personality, we always try to take the time to make people feel comfortable and to help them make the right choices”. The practice continues to ask for feedback and the patient survey results, now done online rather than with postcards, continue to be a source of ideas for improvements.
The way healthcare is delivered has also changed. Monnow Eyecare provide the community with glaucoma tests and monitoring that previously meant a visit to the hospital, a change that has been widely welcomed by the people who use the service. We’re also able to provide emergency tests and get treatment as soon as possible should the need arise. Our low vision service helps patients and their families make changes in their lifestyle, so they have better quality of life.
